It's predecessor is the RS Nova from the 1990s. The Sonic is a sporty bike that is small, light and affordable. It's been very popular in Thailand. It's well suited to run at high rpms with fast acceleration and a decent top speed. The liquid cooling system helps cope with the tropical heat too.

That said the small fuel tank and suspension is less than ideal for one rider. It is outmatched by the less-common Suzuki Raider.
