VFR 400R

Year Built - 1986 - 1992 (superceded by the RVF 400R)

Max speed - 180 kph to 240 kph (some models restricted to 180 kph)

The entry level sports-tourer is the VFR 400. It's similar to a CBR 400 except the riding position is more upright and comfortable for long-hauls.

A popular bike for beginners. Afforbable, fairly-fast and light, it makes a for a good sports bike in a city with overheating rarely a proplem. Often seen as the big brother to the CBR 400 for cruising and touring. The 1989 - 1992 model is considered the best VFR as it's the NC30 version which is reckoned to have superior handling and features.

RVF 400R

Engine Capacity - 400cc 16 valve, V4. Liquid Cooled. Carb.

Fuel Capacity - 15 litres (depending on year)

Weight - 165 kg

Year Built - 1994 - 1996

Max power - 52 bhp

The successor to the VFR 400R. It's considered a good bike with pin-sharp-handling. The upside down forks allow a rider to change 'line' mid-corner compared to the fixed line of its predessesor. Oil filter changes may be tricky should an aftermarket exhaust kit be fitted.

VFR 750F

Engine Capacity - 750cc 16 valve, V4 Liquid Cooled. Carb.

Fuel Capacity - 20 litres

Weight - 230 kg (Wet)

Year Built - 1986 - 1997

A tough mid-range touring bike that's uncommon to see in Thailand. Instead of the usual 5 gears for VFRs up to this model it has 6.

VFR 800F

Engine Capacity - 600cc 16 valve. 4 Cylinder. Liquid Cooled. Carb.

Fuel Capacity - 22 litres

Weight - 218 kg (dry)

Year Built - 1998 - 2009 (superceded by VFR 1200F)

Max speed - 220 kph

Some consider this class of VFR to be the best of the series. It was produced as biking technology was improving and by 2002 recieved some high-spec features like anti-locking brakes and VTEC valves.

In the US this was known as the 'Interceptor' in the UK and elsewhere the 'VFR'

VFR 1200F

Fuel Capacity - 18.5 litres

Weight - 267 kg (dry)

Year Built - 2010 Onwards

Max Power - 170 hp

The new VFR model that's replaced the VFR 800R. Interestingly this new bike is not fitted with VTEC technology.
