Pattaya TouringPattaya is often misunderstood as a big tourist ghetto of bar girls, boozing and debauchery. That's not to say this doesn't go on of course but only the most bone-headed expat would thing that's all there is. As a base for exploring the eastern sea board of Thailand it is ideal. Look outside Pattaya and you'll soon find there's more there than meets the eye...
Touring around PattayaHead up to the areas overlooking Pattaya and you have fine views of the surroundings. Further to the North is Naklua and beyond that Chonburi city. Take a trip across the tracks to Pattaya Darkside for countryside culture and lakes. These include the Mabprachan Reservoir and it's smaller cousin an unnamed lake a few miles to the south. Miles to the south of the lakes are nature reserves and small national parks. Thes include The Winery Villas park area, a well known and fine place to take walks in and travel to. The cities of Sattahip and Rayong are to the South and South East. If press beyond them you'll eventually hit Trat province and the cambodian border.
