Pattaya Bikes

Pattaya is one of the tourist city's that has a major big bike presence. Some say even more so than Phuket or Chiang Mai. The number of biker gangs that are in the area certainly augment the big bike presence. For small bikes too this place has them in plentiful supply.

The four main 'zones' for big bikes in Pattaya are:

Pattaya Beach Road - All are rental places. The bikes are usually in good condition and legal to ride following the post 2008 and 2009 crack-downs. The trend here is mostly sportsbikes.
Lads, if you're reading this and fancy blasting down beach road make sure you're not wasted or drunk. Beach road is a near traffic jam at the best of times and we've seen some horror-show images of young dudes gone astray on bikes in the past. Don't let it be you.

Pattaya 2nd Road - Bikes are available to rent but the trend is more repair shops and small bike dealerships. The one-way system here makes it a pain to access. Unless you're a tourist or living in this area we'd avoid this zone.

Pattaya 3rd Road - This road is a Pattaya Biker Gang area. Don't let this put you off though as they aren't cause trouble though and make a good source for bike rental, parts and even sales. They also have a lot of affiliated bars nearby too. More on the Biker Gangs in another section.

Sukumvit Highway - Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki have their main dealership bases here. It also is where you'll find the independent big bike shops. In our opinion, for expat bikers living here, these are the best places to take your bike. They don't usually rent out bikes and concentrate mostly on fixing up old big bikes. Hence there's no salesmanship. You want a part they go and get it for your bike and install it while you wait. At the moment the Yamaha garage has recently received a shipment of ZXR Ninja's. While the bright green-colour isn't exactly to everyones taste Yamaha are setting a precedent that it's hoped Honda and Suzuki can follow.
